RE: [VAL] Battery Charging or lack thereof
I had the same problem recently when I spent too much time away from my
coach at my fiance's. I couldn't help myself :) After about a month I
started doing routine cleanup on the coach and discovered that the RV-500 on
demand water heater would not ignite. I checked the battery voltage and
only had ll.34 volts so I knew I was in trouble
Opened the battery and all but one plate showed exposed plates. Quickly
refilled and then left everything to charge for a while. I think I may have
caught it in time, but I'm sure that I radically shortened the life of the
battery through neglect.
I guess the moral is that if your sure you're going to be away from your
coach for a while, disconnect the battery from the Univolt. You will still
have AC appliances in your absence and without boiling all the water off
your battery.
Does that seem reasonable?
