Grey water used to be just soap and all sorts of natural debris that 
would be OK laying around. Now it may contain all sorts of things we 
might not want to walk in. If everyone was thoughtful about what they 
threw down the drain, it might be OK. In general, Boards of Health and 
state laws want to treat all effluvia the same.

And because of that, many people will see anything draining out of your 
trailer as potentially raw sewage and begin to think Typhoid, etc. And 
since there are always people with nothing better to do than cause 
trouble, it is important to be subtle if not law abiding.

I remember one lovely site in a field where a caravan stopped. It was a 
boondocking set up, no services at all. When we left, there was one 
trailer who left a big pile of suds on the ground below their grey water 
drain. That sort of behavior will lead to yet more restrictions on our 
camping opportunities.
