A couple more product suggestions.  West Marine carries a product called 
"Team McLube" (don't laugh) - it works great and was intended for exposed 
sail boat parts like track rails, which are in verrrrry unfriendly 
environments.  One circumnavigator friend with a 60' sailboat swears by 
the stuff.  The other is a product called Triflow - also a teflon based 
product in a black can.  A far cry from WD40.
