Dave,

There's an article in the latest Blue Beret (Phred Sez, page 20) on how to 
clean that crud out of the dump valve.  You might try that method first.  I 
know it's worked for me.

As far as raising the  trailer, get one of those ramps from Camping World 
that you use when changing a tire on a dual axle...works great, it raises it 
up quite a bit, and the trailer is still secure.
