RE: [VAL] 12 volt refridg

Greetings Dan!

I have had 3-Way RV refrigerators since purchasing my first new Nomad
travel trailer in 1980. I have never experienced any problems with my
tow vehicles as a result of their operation. Part of the restoration of
my '64 Overlander included having my Airstream dealer install a new
Dometic 3-Way refrigerator in 1999. It has met all of my expectations
and has performed flawlessly. I dislike gas appliances so it has only
been operated on LP gas for less than three hours - - primarily to
verify that it worked on that power segment.

Over the years, I have learned that having the unit thoroughly cooled
either using 120-Volt AC or LP gas will help to insure proper operation
on 12-volt. The dealer who wires and prepares my tow vehicles is aware
that I have a 12-volt refrigerator so he wires the tow vehicle
accordingly. Prior to 1995, I towed with older full-size automobiles
and part of the installation was to upgrade to an adjustable voltage
regulator and heavy duty alternator - - I haven't had any modifications
to the '99 Suburban nor its '95 Chevrolet K1500 Z-71 predecessor. I
would definitely recommend the 3-Way Dometic refrigerators based upon my
experiences - - in fact a new 3-Way Dometic is on my list for action
when the original Dometic in my Minuet needs to be replaced.

Good luck with your research!
