I remember when you first started this line.
You said you did a volt meter check and it ran from 12v to 0v
when you tried the jack...
Where did you measure this.... Was it on the wire leading to the jack?
If that was the case then I would look back in the direction of the
supply battery or voltage source ..
Something has a loose fuse or some other open when you
apply a load to it.
It dose not sound like a bad jack.
