Rockwell made a reciprocating saw, much like the Sawzall (Milwaukee), which
has two different strokes.  One like a hacksaw for metal cutting, and another
for rough work on branches, which raises and lowers the blade with each stroke
for clearing sawdust.  A recip saw, in the right hands, can do amazing things,
including plunge cuts, right in the middle of a board without drilling a hole
to get started.  This is particularly handy when you intend to put the piece
back into the hole you just made for emergency access to the stuff behind.
