[VAL] Intelli-Power and Charge Wizard

Three years ago, shortly after we aquired our 69
Caravel, the original converter failed and we replaced
it with an Intelli-Power and Charge Wizard.  It has
performed well until the other day.  I checked the
battery and was suprised to find it almost dry, took a
lot to fill it up.  When I hooked up the 120 V to
recharge it, shortly after the battery was very hot,
so I unplugged the 120v.  I have checked the output of
the Charge Wizard and it seems to be right on but when
connected to the battery, the battery boils and heats
up in a very short time.  Right now I am monitoring
the voltage on the battery to see how long it will
hold a charge.  Anybody have an idea of what the
problem might be?  Do components such as the Charge
Wizard have to be replaced?  Is the battery history?
