Hi David: On my '67, that switch operates the center overhead light fixture. The idea being that you reach above the door and turn on a central inside light when you are entering the trailer in the dark. So make sure the fixture is turned on and flip that switch and it should light up. GQ '67 Safari 4082 in CA
