    There is an outfit in New England that converts old
Airstreams into "clean trailers" for those people who have
chemical sensitivities to the materials installed in factory
trailers.  I can't recall the company's name, but a search
in Tom Patterson's archives should bring it up.  Or perhaps
someone else reading this message might recall the name off
the top of their head and post it.  In any event, you might
visit their web site for inspiration and ideas on how to
achieve your design goals, which they have been similarly
pursuing for several years.
