hi tim
if yours is a humphrey, it is very easy to use. just like a coleman propane
lantern with a cloth mantle. there should be a lever on the side, up for
off, down for on or vice versa. you light a match and turn it on and
presto..... you have light and a minimal amount of heat. as to safety, i
would treat it as i would any appliance that combusts, always crack a window
or vent.  also, i messed up the address for where i got mine lantern. it
