[VAL] Re: Pearl Update

Good news again from the plant. The service technician who is working
on my FC called me today just to chat about her progress and to ask me
a question about how I wanted to handle the installation of the Newport
Propane Fireplace. He asked if it was my 67 Safari that he had worked
on four years ago!

He said that the new hot water heater was in and installed where the
old 110 heater was. New fresh water tank installed in the front under
the window where the old one was. (previous owner had removed all
self-contained water system) He hooked the side door light to the new
12 volt system. (was only 110) He was in the process of installing the
propane fireplace and wanted to know if it was OK to put a new wall to
mount it on as the old one had several inches cut off the bottom and
would have to be patched. The best news was that he got the old fridge
up and running! (remember those at La Veta, I couldn't get it started)
He had it going all day and it was making ice!!!! (50 year old
fridge!!)

In talking to him about all the improvements I don't know who was more
excited about Pearl, him or me!! I really feel good about having taken
her to the plant. The guys in the service area take pride in their work
and his strong feelings about restoring the oldies was apparent.

I sent them a new axle today that I had ordered last Aug. but didn't
have time to have installed before leaving for the VAC rally in La
Veta. I can hardly wait to get her back.

Patti (seriously thinking about selling the 03 Safari to pay for all
this!)
