[VAL] WBCCI Survey - Toby's Reply

Toby ,

Thank you for such a thoughtful reply on this controversial issue of change.

As part of the leadership team of the Vintage Airstream Club, I would like
say that change is inevitable for our Club. The form of those changes will
be in line with the thoughts of those that care to make a contribution and
work together towards a more common interest. Age is not an issue by itself.
It is all about respect, Respect for Tradition, Respect for New Ideas, and
Respect for the Individual.

These are the things that make great organizations. The WBCCI and through
it's affiliation the VAC, have in their constitutions, these values as their
basis for existing.

The Club means different things to different people! The formula for
exercising that constitution is largely subject to local chapter
interpretation. Each unit has been molded by its local membership. Some
chapters have not embraced the value of change and new ideas and have
subsequently given up there charters and disbanded. Others chapters have
found a formula that works to capture new members and has begun that process
of change by getting that new blood involved in the leadership of the unit.

The Regions and the National Club are just a little slower to change, they
have the task of trying to appease both extremes. Its not an easy one. The
fact that the national leadership recognizes that a survey is required is
evidence of change. It has already been mentioned that you can't please
everyone, but that shouldn't stop us from finding the most common
denominator among those that have an interest in all that the club(s) has to
offer.

In the course of the next few years there will be more changes.

Everyone who cares should volunteer their support and ideas to make the
VAC/WBCCI experience a worthwhile one.

Respectfully

Wayne A. Moore
Second Vice President
Vintage Airstream Club
VAC/WBCCI #15116

For those of you that are not interested in club politics, I thank you for
this time to address those that are!
