Another reason not to load the rear of the trailer with a bunch of weight is
that the tongue weight is reduced. Reduce it too far and the trailer will
tow poorly.
I doubt that weight induced frame seperation is a myth. Yes Airstream DID
offer spare tire mounts on the rear, and they DID offer a bicycle rack.
HOWEVER please notice that neither of these things are currently offered!
My '60 Overlander (single axle) was starting to suffer from frame/body
seperation. It has the rear spare option. However this is now fixed (thanks
to an Airstream dealer in Iowa) for a REASONABLE price.
