This may not be the best answer but I had the same trouble..
I thought the cost of that special cover was way out of line.
What I did was to cut some Clear Plexiglass and just Silicon sealed it
to the top rim of the vent... It makes a nice Sky Light to look out
and see the stars at night or the trees in the day.
It was CEEP Too....
