Re: [VACList] Re: Rear Mirror

The fellow who keeps our house intact and everything running has a
really big truck with a solid (no windows) utility body about 16 long.
He has a round parabolic mirror mounted on the rear of the roof and it
looks down onto the rear bumper as you've described. I've been looking
for one of those ever since I wiped out a little white, low Honda car
with my pickup & shell. The car was right on my bumper when I backed up
and didn't show up at all in my rearview mirror. In the meantime, I did
put a Frisell (?) lens on the rear window of the camper. The images are
reduced in size and it takes a while for the brain to learn to
translate the image but eventually it does and you can not only see
your rear bumper and beyond but also see to the sides for spaced out
pedestrians who seem to float by behind a backing vehicle. That still
amazes it - I guess they figure everyone will look out for them?
