I have removed lots of sticky stuff from the surface with something
called "gasket remover".  It is in a spray can at Wal-mart and was the
ONLY thing that took off some clear tape that even paint remover
wouldn't budge.  It also was the best thing for cleaning some really
black, corroded aluminum windows.  I love the stuff but use rubber
gloves cuz it TINGLES!!!
