[VACList] Free standing AC?
Hi Patti,
Don't worry about naysayers. Rooftop AC units don't exactly add to the
appearance of any trailer (or MH for that matter) plus they put a lot
of weight (mine is 130#) on top of the trailer, the worst place to put
it, even worse than in the rear. You also lose a roof vent if you already
have one that would be used for the roof AC.
To avoid cutting a hole in the side that shows, you could cut a hole in
the floor and out the bottom, suitably ducted and flashed. The neatest
solution would be to use an existing vent like maybe the water heater vent,
or vent into one of the outside storage cubbies (if your trailer has one).
Then you could simply open the little door when you are parked and want to
use the AC. Maybe the whole AC unit could be hidden in a storage cubby?
