Re: [VACList] Midsize SUV

exactly Scott, you nailed it.
why I like the Pullrite. it moves the pivot of the drawbar up to inches behind
the differential on the rear tow axle.
thus, as you say, no lever and no sway.
My father in law, b4 he passed on, pulled "roach hotels" as he called what is
now euphemistically described as "manufactured housing". the house trailer was
hitched behind the rear axle (within less than 24")and for all intents and
purposes, there was very little lever. his rear axle could be lengthened to make
his wheelbase longer, improving his dead head ride or even when he was pulling
RVs. However, the axles or wheelbase could be compressed to about 10feet as I
remember to fit hiway or DOT guidelines when pulling 60' trailers.

again, yes - the trailer brakes (the way I have always done it) engage well
before my vehicle brakes do and in case of a panic stop, the trailer is being
practically dragged down the road by my late applying tow brakes. The opposite
is going to result in pop the whip with the worst road conditions.

thanks again Scott for simplifying/focusing the discussion
