my 1948 Trailwind had only leaf-springs... i think that was pretty much the
rule on 20' and smaller trailers until the Henschen Dura-torque axle
appeared in the late 50's/early 60's... the dura-torque has always used
auxiliary shocks. a previous owner had replaced the original axle tube with
a new dexter axle with electric brakes, but it still had only the
leaf-springs... i used those frame-rails, springs, axle, wheels/brakes and
built a utility box trailer on it with scrap lumber.
