[VACList] Dometic firdge - switch operation

I've got a Dometic fridge (gas & electric) in my '80 Avion 34W.  I believe
this unit is pretty generic and assume it was a common unit in the '70s
Airstreams.

I bought this trailer years ago and have never really used it.  I tried
turning the fridge onto "electric" when I first got it and the switch did
not want to turn and I did not want to break it - so I just left it.  Now -
years later I'm finally getting around to puttering with the trailer.

The selector switch for the fridge still does not want to go to the
"electric" position.  (for "electric" - you push the knob in and turn
it....it pushes in - but it won't turn)

It will turn to the gas position - but the manual ignitor does not seem to
work etc... - we managed to get the gas lit and the fridge did not cool down
in a short period of time - maybe it needs burping or whatever...but I'm
just not going to worry about that side of the system for now as I want to
go through the whole gas system before I am comfortable using if for any
length of time.  In the meantime - I'd like to see if it might work on
electric if I can get the switch to work.

Are there any secrets to that switch that might apply to my described
situation.
