[VACList] Checking Propane tank levels

OK - time for another dumb question.  
Is there any way to check the fill level of a 30lb
propane tank in place, short of taking it down and
weighing it or shaking it?  We're getting ready for a
weekend boondogle and would hate to get caught short.
