RE: [VACList] WEIGHT OF THE '71 CARAVEL

Greetings David!

The information that you desire can be found on the Airstream corporate
site at:

http://www.airstream.com/faq/weights.pdf

The dry or empty weight for the 1971 Caravel is listed as 3,290 pounds
with a hitch weight of 360 pounds and a hitch height of 19".

The one thing to bear in mind about these weights is that they do not
reflect any fluids (propane, water, etc.), nor do they reflect the
weight of any optional equipment such as awning(s), air conditioner,
larger optional propane tanks, etc. In the case of my '64 Overlander,
its factory dry weight is listed as 3,930 pounds but my actual dry
weight is nearly 4,400 pounds with its optional equipment (3 Zip Dee
Awnings, 40 pound LP tanks, larger Dometic refrigerator, and
International package); while the hitch weight is listed as 405 pounds
and mine is nearly 500 pounds when empty. Fully loaded weight on my
Overlander approaches 6,000 pounds with a hitch weight of 725 pounds.
