Alan, not to rain on your parade but I think you will find that State Farm's
premium is based on stated value but their valuation for a claim will not be
based on your declared value but instead will be based on some adjuster's
idea of what your vintage Airstream is worth. I'm currently insured with
State Farm and I explored this topic at some length with my agent. I was
told to get written estimates of value from RV dealers (including Airstream
dealers) who State Farm would agree were satisfactory for determining value.
Wherever you live, try calling up multiple State Farm adjusters and ask them
what they say your trailer is worth. Since it won't be listed in their "Blue
Book" and nobody locally will have a clue about it's real value, you will
get a very low number if you get any value at all. Check it out. Lots more
