Re: [VACList] FW: Vermont/Generators

I've got to say that I'm *not* a big fan of the Honda RV
generators. The ones I have had dealings with were generally noisier
and more trouble prone than my trusty Onan Emerald I- though in all
fairness, the ones I see are the ones having problems, and Hondas are
not that popular in the RV models. I *do* like the portable inverter
models, however.
A really neat model is the Generac Impact 3600- 30 amps of 120
volt power, 88 lbs- inverter equipped, though I'm unsure about the
reliability.

When deciding about size, you really need to figure out how
much power you need- will the whole rig run off a 30 amp outlet, or do
you need more? If it will work with 30 amps, I would go with a 4000
watt model- nothing larger. The biggest problems with generators is
not running them hard enough- the RV models are designed and built
with a 100% duty cycle, at 100% output, and do not do well at lower
than 50% load.
