Re: [VACList] Tekonsha Voyager

Tom,
My Voyager *seemed* to work pretty well, with my 3/4-ton Dodge, pulling a
6000# Avion. The real tip-off was when I tried to stop a bit quickly on wet
pavement; the truck was sliding and the trailer brakes seemed to be doing
not much of anything. Mind you, this was at maybe 20 MPH, not high speeds.
With the Prodigy, the trailer brakes are definitely working like they
should.

Between the Voyager and the Prodigy, I had a Warner hydraulic controller on
the truck. This worked decently, but has no adjustments for "max power",
only "rate of application". Although it was OK with the travel trailer, it
caused the brakes to lock on my tandem-axle utility trailer that has brakes
on only one axle.

With the Prodigy, it's a simple matter to readjust the "max power" when
hitching up either the Avion or the utility trailer, with no trial and error
experiments required. Just use the digital readout on the controller.

If someone feels that their Voyager is working OK for them, that's fine, but
if you're buying a new controller, there's no reason to even consider that
unit over the Prodigy.
