The inner shell panels are vinyl-clad aluminum, not glued on wallpaper. A
heat gun won't remove it. I'd guess you'd either need a nasty chemical to 
completely dissolve the vinyl, or need some mechanical means -- such as 
wire brush and sanding.
Neither of which (if even possible) would be any fun at all.

I'd suggest finding a paint that would adhere to the vinyl. Or, didn't someone in
here cover their walls with some type of copper-leaf? Might be a version of
that stuff that could be used to get that shiny aluminum look the original poster
is after.
