Actually, when I had to remove the inner 'skin' on my '76, I used a slightly
oversized bit to first cut the head of the rivet off, then the 1/8" bit to
finish the removal. I found that, after cutting the head off, just pushing
on them with the 1/8" bit got rid of them.

When I pulled the panel, the cut-off rivets fell out. This procedure did not
enlarge the holes, nor did it result in any 'wandering' of the bit.
