[VAC] fixing tail/break/running lights

My running lights are all wired together. Each light except the last one
has two wires connected to its hot wire. If the last guy lost track of a
wire every running light beyond that will not work.

On the advice of the members of this list I replaced the umbilical cord to
my vehicle. I bought a prewired plug with 7 feet of wire and connected it
following the color coding in Greg Paulson's post of May 5, 2002. (If you
can't find it I have a copy and could give you the high points.) This
turned out to be good advice. My problems went away with the old "funky"
plug. If you decide to do this leave a little of the old umbilical colors
on the trailer wires until you are ready to connect the new one.

Follow Gerald J's advice on grounding and Chris' terrific post on how to
proceed. In particular get a test light rather than wiring and unwiring
light fixtures.

Airstream Dreams has cheap and expensive running lights. But be forewarned
its hard to accept the cheap ones after you've seen the expensive ones.

Good Luck,

Dick
