Jon. What you have is normal. I have never heard of moisture damaging the 
counter top. If you look at the roof immediately above the reefer, you will 
find a cover about 28 inches long and about 6 inches high, and about 8 inches 
wide. That's the reefer exhaust vent cover.
Your may be plastic. Metal replacements are available,
