[VAC] Re: E-mag worries
I believe that the "new" Univolt is a Parralax (used to be
magnetek) 7455, which *is* a "switch mode" type converter. I cannot
find any information about the voltage/charging, and I'm a bit burned
by Parralax because I have been recommending one of their models for a
while now, and recently found out that they lied in the brochures they
sent me- long story, but the brochures (for the model 7345 upgrade)
claim two stage charging, but it turns out that- 1)- this is an
option, and 2) it isn't true two stage, but a timed voltage change-
when it is first energized, it goes to 14.2 volts for 12 hours, then
kicks down to 13.6 (times and voltages from memory).
Bottom line- they are very similar, but I believe that the
PD9100 series is a far better unit.
