Thomas, you tension the spring bars until the
trailer is level again. Once you know how many links in the chain to drop (where
to attach the spring bar chains) it's a lot easier to tighten and loosen the
spring bars if you will fully extend the tongue jack lifting the front of the
trailer. I think there's less chance of being injured with the tension off or
reduced by jacking up the front of the trailer.
