[VAC] Re: Clearcoat Removal Using Nuvite G6

I believe it works, but when you're talking about
taking clearcoat off with G6 you're talking about a
grinding operation.

in having friends that have polished motorcycle frames
and things of that nature, I've seen people sand off
clearcoat, grind off clear coat, and strip clearcoat
with aircraft stripper.

in all circumstances the aircraft stripper was the
most effective. it leaves more of the metal on the
metal - if that makes sense. G6 will take the
clearcoat off, but it will also take some of the
cladding off the aluminum and will yield less depth to
your shine.

I think what needs to be said is that Home Store paint
stripper is different stuff than industrial strength
aircraft stripper. many people will wait longer for
the home store stuff to work, and often buy the citrus
"less harmful to the environment" kind simply because
it does less damage to the world around us. I buy
that theory, and if I weren't ONLY restoring one
Airstream, I might take that tack. But, one trailer
is taking long enough as it is, so I'm using aircraft
paint stripper responsibly.

those are my thoughts, this message will self destruct
in 3 seconds.
