[VAC] Re: WBCCI membership revisited

My experiences mirror Alex's. While I am not single, my wife and I have
been welcomed with open arms by our local WBCCI chapter (Cincinnati, OH).
We are in our "mid 40s" and we are by far the youngest members that I have
seen at any meetings (We will go to out first local chapter rally this April).

Most of the members realize that the future of WBCCI depends on them
getting younger members. However, most "young" folks:

A - Do not have the money to buy a new Airstream
B - Even if they COULD afford a new one, they do not have the free time to
use an Airstream enough to justify the cost of it.

So, that means that most "younger" members, if they are to own an
Airstream, will be buying used, if not vintage, Airstreams, and fixing them up.

I spoke with members of the Columbus Ohio chapter last fall when we saw
them at a campground we happened to be staying at. They are actively
searching for older trailers so that they can be sold to "younger" folks,
who could then join their chapter. He tried to recruit my wife and I, and
we live over 100 miles away :-).

Whenever we take our vintage trailer out, and someone wanders over to
admire it, I let them know how relatively inexpensive it is to buy one.
Maybe I will manage to "convert" one or to SOB owners to see the light :-)

Dave
