Why do you think you need a new engine? I
have seen suburbans go 200,000 miles + without any major engine problems.
Your use of 1 qt. of oil/3000 miles does not seem excessive for pulling a
trailer. Have you done a compression test on the engine? What are
those numbers? My criteria for a new engine would be power. If you
are loosing power than you are loosing compression and if you have low
compression chances are that you are going thru oil pretty quick. It is
all related. I would not get in to big a hurry to replace an
engine.
