I have a 57 Sovereign of the Road with a black water tank that sticks below
the the belly pan by 5". The toilet sits flat on the floor as well. I'm in
the process of restoring the old girl and haven't removed the tank to see
just how its done. It doesn't appear to be original. The belly pan in that
area drops down around the tank to cover it. The ground clearance in that
area is reduced  however it doesn't seem to have caused any major problems.
A few minor scrapes etc.
