[VAC] Furnace.. replace or repair..

I could have my number wrong, but I think the RV consultant at the Hensley
get together this year recommended replacement after 15
years....Personally, I think the furnace should be at the top of the list
of items you consider replacing...If the fridge doesn't work the pop gets
warm.. if the furnace leaks, you might not wake up... or you sort of wake
up minus most of your marbles....

If you are good at furnace repair, and you are confident in your ability to
safety inspect the furnace and replace all the worn, rusted, or otherwise
ready to fail parts, you might be OK keeping the original ... If not that
confident and are hiring the work out, you are going to be part of the way
to a replacement with the labor charges... at the prices a good
professional shop has to charge to stay in business, you are paying a fair
portion of the cost of a new one....My personal opinion, which is probably
worth no more than the charge that goes with it, is that minor part failure
on a fairly new unit is cause for repair, any indication of unreliable
operation on a 20+ year old RV furnace is cause for replacement of the
complete unit....

Not to harp on personal preferences, but I consider myself pretty handy as
handy goes, and I don't consider myself competent to keep an antique
furnace safe... emergency repair when it acts up is different... I know
most of the words that help in those situations....

Keep safe....
