Another possible key player in the E911 area is LoJack Corp. (Dedham, MA), 
which may be best known for recovering stolen cars. LoJack is known as the 
angle-of-arrival (AOA) system, which detects the direction of a signal 
received from a transmitter at only one point. In this system, the 
transmitter's location is determined from the receivers' antenna position 
and the AOA of the signals that are from the antennas.

It appears from some other reading that the police car must be equipped 
with a Lojack computer (laptop) and software to decode the information from 
the Lojack transmitter....some agreements were listed with GPS companies... 
apparently an OnStar like system may be in the works....
