[VAC] caulk - leaks

I just acquired a 1971 Safari and it has some water stains coming down 
from the seams that are parrallel to the top of the windows. I assume 
that I should recaulk the roof vents, etc. Should I use Valkem Caulk or 
would I be better off using 100% silicon (clear) which is considered the 
best in the building trade? Also, should I caulk other areas beside the 
obvious vents?
