Carl,
This post and an earlier one you made lead me to believe someone has
modified your tow-vehicle to trailer wiring.  Originally there would
have been a wire that connected to your cars' battery that would run the
one 12v light in the ceiling.  Sounds like later someone added a line
from the car battery (hopefully through an isolator), back to a later
added battery - unless you have the front mounted battery box above the
tongue.  If you do, and still have two wires, then a prior owner was
very, very confused.  Over 40+ years have passed, and you will be very
surprised what you will find wiring wise.
