[VAC] Re: New Radio

Don,
You can install a switch in the power wire to the radio to completely
kill it, or install a master battery disconnect switch. The latter will
be a heavy-duty switch; there's a couple of different kinds. One is a
simple knife switch that installs right on a battery post, the other
mounts remotely. Some of the latter kind have a key, usually a very
simple one. I've installed one of these kind in the main battery lead
for 2 purposes: to prevent draining the battery from so-called parasitic
loads (the radio/CD player) and as a safety device in case of a major
short circuit. While I was at it, I installed a 50 amp fuse in the main
lead. This switch is also handy if I'm doing some sort of wiring, making
it easy to kill everything in the trailer.

Besides the clock, killing power to the radio will eliminate all the
station presets.
