[VAC] Oxidation and polishing aluminum (at home?)

I suspect this subject has been covered before so excuse me if I ask the 
question again (I am a new subscriber).

Can someone refer me to a web page or other resource to get information on 
polishing the old aluminum on a Airstream?

I am a handy man kind of a guy and I want to see if I can do the work my 
self (ie I can't afford to send it out for the work).

I am going to retire in a few years.  I am trying to decide if I am going 
to buy a older Airstream trailer and refurbish it, or just buy a trailer.

As I will be on a fixed, smaller pension, I want to see if I can do all the 
work myself.  I am good with tools and my hands and I suspect I will like 
the work.  When I was a kid I helped my father restore old cars.  I have a 
love of bringing old things back to life.

I am in Portland Oregon.  Any Airstream owners in my area?  I would like to 
see one close up and maybe help out fixing one up (no charge; I am just 
trying to learn).
