Harvey,
I feel the same way.  I like having my refrigerated and frozen foods when on 
the road and have always left the refrigerator going while on the road.  It 
might be a good idea to shut it down if the trailer ends up in the gas fill 
bay at a station, but generally the trailer is more at risk from the cars in 
the parking lot than from gasoline fumes getting to the heating element of 
the refrigerator...especially since it is much better isolated than the 
cigarettes in the mouthes of those that insist on smoking in the gas pump 
area.
