[VAC] Re: Is a rock protector necessary?

Bobby,

Do you mean you have a fabric awning like a Zip Dee installed over your front window?

The standard rock guard awning installed on most other brand trailers serves the dual purpose of protecting the window while towing and an awning when parked if the occupant desires to open the front window.  Airstream rock guard awnings add an additional function, that of a sun and heat shield because they, at least the later years, are tinted.

If your trailer has a fabric awning over your front window you could probably remove it, install it over the rear or one of the side windows, then install the standard A/S rock guard awning over the front window.
