Charles,
I don't think your asking for trouble.  May trailer doesn't have one and
I've towed it from WA down to Mexico and have had no problem.  I did make a
boo boo in AZ and forgot to take off a block of wood foor my hitch on the
back bumper of my truck and hit a rail road track that had no warning sign
and the bock hit the front window but it only cost $35 to replace.
