Find some aluminum to fit the hole, a pair of about 1-1/4" hinges, and a
magnetic cabinet latch. Hinge the aluminum to the fixed aluminum, and
use the magnetic cabinet latch (with stop plate bolted to the aluminum)
to hold it closed. Add a strap or a drawer handle on the outside to make
closing from outside easier. It will pop open on the hinges when there's
conflict between it and the door handle. Has worked since '68 in my
Caravel. I don't have any pictures of it.
