[VAC] Re: Battery/converter questions



         Short answer- by '75, Airstream was using the ferro resonant 
converter. These were designed to use the battery as part of the circuit- 
so it *is* hard on it to run without a battery, and the output is basically 
unregulated.

         You *can* get a battery eliminator, (Magnetek p/n SB-100- "SB 
stands for simulated battery) which is basically a *big* capacitor- (IIRC, 
around 100,000 MFD )- but these are as expensive as a good battery.

         Long answer- if *all* you are running is lights (nothing 
electronic, no motors), all you will do is eventually burn out the univolt, 
and because you are going to replace it anyway...
