Didn't see your original post, but, were they broken or just froze up.  I
have a 76 that had two of the three missing the vertical slide handles and
were froze up.  About 15 minutes of careful working with pam cooking oil and
worked them back into new working order . Also replaced the pull handles and
crimped them on with strong C-clamps to dig into the wood.  I have also seen
people drill a small screw through the handle to keep it from coming off.
