[VAC] Refrigerator Preventive Maintenance

With all the discussion on kick starting and burping absorption
refrigerators, does anyone have any suggestions for keeping and old unit
functioning?

What is the best way to store a trailer (and refrigerator) for a long period
of time, say a couple of years?  Run the refrigerator every few months or
just let it sit.?

Ditto for shorter storage periods.
