Before applying paint to your vintage Airstream check out the preparation
that is required to raw aluminum to make the paint adhere.
Recollections of acid etching, priming and special paints for
aluminum. That is why powder coating is so popular with many
aluminum parts. Maybe you could powder coat your coach . . .
pricey!
I prefer the natural patina of oxidation on a coach after it has been
completely "cleared" of clear coat. One aditional point
is that oxidation, unlike rust, only goes so far into the surface of the
metal. Then the oxidation itself provides protection for the
hull.
